Sunshine Rooms is a new creative program to bring comfort and happiness to children with special needs by designing and decorating rooms in their homes. This organization has been started by Barbara Lyijynen, a professional designer with twenty two years experience. As a non-profit business we focus on children and families in low and moderate income and urban areas with serious medical conditions or other physical or emotional needs. After Barbara designs the room, our caring volunteers create comforting, healing environments where a child can recover, grow, and thrive. With the help of designers, artisans, and volunteers, we create these joyful healing rooms including furniture, accessories, and other materials necessary to put a little “Sunshine” into your child’s life. Specialty Rooms Our professionals talk to your kids to find out what they desire, then design the room around that. We can create just about any type of room for boys or girls including trains, airplanes, dolls, animals and other motifs
